Les écrits de cette jeune couturière du XIXe siècle traversent sans difficulté les âges et les générations, car ils traitent d’un sujet intemporel : l’amour de Jésus. Marie-Eustelle voit dans l’Eucharistie le signe palpable du don de Jésus pour elle et pour chacun d’entre nous. Elle ressent le besoin de s’en nourrir et ne cesse de demander à communier plus fréquemment jusqu’à l’obtenir quotidiennement, pratique inhabituelle à cette époque. La principale préoccupation de sa vie est de faire connaître l’amour infini de Jésus. De vive voix ou par écrit, elle encourage chacun à « aller au tabernacle ».

Sa grande conscience de la présence réelle du Christ dans l’hostie rayonne au travers de ses mots, qu’elle trouve cependant trop pauvres pour exprimer l’immensité d’un tel amour. Cette figure de sainteté laïque témoigne d’une profonde liberté intérieure et d’une fidélité au quotidien, nourrie à la source sacrée.
