Read the Bible today

Lydia Jaeger

Completed almost two thousand years ago, the Bible remains the most read and most translated book in the world and its importance is measured by the number of books written about it!

The project of this book is justified by several original features, notably the emphasis placed on epistemological questions (in the sense of "methodological": reading methods, hermeneutic principles according to different religious traditions, reception of the text, influence of developments in the contemporary world and new media on how we appropriate the Bible, etc.

It is distinguished by the diversity of cultural areas, religious traditions and academic disciplines represented by the authors. What unites them is, on the one hand, their recognized expertise in their field of contribution, and on the other, their passion for Scripture. While being at the cutting edge of research, the authors strive to make their contribution accessible to a fairly broad audience, not specialists in the issues addressed. In particular, students and those interested in reading the Bible will find in this book an introduction to the various questions it poses today.
